Jeremy Renner has shared a photo of himself with a bruised face, which may show how his upcoming Hawkeye Disney+ series will feature a comic-accurate Clint Barton from his solo Marvel comic book.

Renner shared the photo on his Instagram Stories with the caption, "Mondays...." The Marvel Cinematic Universe star is shown with a cut and bandage over his right eyebrow, and bruises on his forehead and nose. Of course, this version of Clint Barton was front and center in 2012's award-winning Hawkeye from writer Matt Fraction and artist David Aja.

The Hawkeye comic series saw Clint Barton and Kate Bishop -- Marvel's two Hawkeyes -- working together. Clint often found himself getting into physical altercations with the Track Suit Mafia, which left him battered and bruised and constantly covered in bandages. This look has followed Hawkeye across the Marvel Universe ever since, most recently in the Hawkeye: Freefall miniseries by writer Matthew Rosenberg and Otto Schmidt.

While Disney+'s Hawkeye is expected to see Clint Barton pass the Hawkeye mantle Kate Bishop, the comics see both heroes equally sharing the moniker, much like Peter Parker and Miles Morales with Spider-Man.

The most recent look at Hawkeye came from Marvel Studios concept artist Andy Park and gave fans a look at what Kate Bishop may look like when she makes her MCU debut. The concept design illustration also shows Kate Bishop with a few bandages on her body, but also wearing a costume similar to what she dons in the comics.

Hawkeye is one of the many Marvel Disney+ series to have its production halted by the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19). The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was originally planned to be the first series released in August. However, it has now been pushed to 2021, with WandaVision kicking off Marvel's new streaming venture in January 2021.

Hawkeye stars Jeremy Renner reprising his role as Clint Barton, a role he first started playing in 2011's Thor. The series is expected to follow Clint as he trains Kate Bishop to become the new Hawkeye. The show is also expected to examine Clint's time as Ronin, the superhero identity he took during the events of Avengers: Endgame.

Marvel Studios' Hawkeye stars Jeremey Renner as Clint Barton and Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop. The Disney+ series does not currently have a release date.
