As it turns out, not being able to see anyone for months thanks to the coronavirus proved beneficial at helping Hailee Steinfeld keep her Kate Bishop role in Disney+'s Hawkeye a secret.

In an interview with People, Steinfeld said that it was "so good" to finally talk about her casting, though social distancing unwittingly made it easier to not feel tempted. "I guess in a way, it was kind of a blessing in disguise that I didn't and couldn't be around a lot of people, cause that was a hard one to keep to myself," she explained, calling herself "so honored to be a part of this family that is the MCU."

While Steinfeld didn't disclose much about Kate Bishop's arc or relation with Jeremy Renner's Clint Barton, she did describe the superhero as "an incredible character" while adding "it's been a really fun journey so far." This comes shortly after Hawkeye behind-the-scene photos were revealed of her and Renner filming together in New York City, some of which showed Steinfeld dressed in Kate Bishop's comics-accurate purple and black costume.

First appearing in 2005's Young Avengers, Bishop's characterization in the upcoming Hawkeye series will borrow more inspiration from Matt Fraction and David Aja's acclaimed 2012 Hawkeye comic run. Taking place sometime after the events of Avengers: Endgame, the show will follow Barton, now living away from his MCU family in Manhattan, as he attempts to train Bishop as an heir to his codename. In addition to fighting local New York criminals, Hawkeye will also explore parts of Barton's past as Ronin during the five-year gap between Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame.

Hawkeye stars Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton, Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop, Jolt as Pizza Dog/Lucky, Vera Farmiga as Eleanor Bishop, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Fra Fee as Kazi, Tony Dalton as Jack Duquesne/Swordsman, Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez/Echo and Zahn McClarnon as William Lopez. The Disney+ series has yet to receive a premiere date.
