Kate Bishop will reportedly be back as the new Avenging Archer, with Hailee Steinfeld reprising her Hawkeye role in more upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe projects.
Variety reported the news amidst its 2022 Emmy coverage. Marvel Studios' various Disney+ shows landed multiple nominations, with Hawkeye landing two nominations, for best stunt coordination for a comedy series or variety program and best stunt performance. Additionally, Loki nabbed six nominations, Moon Knight garnered eight, and What If...? scored three, including one for Chadwick Boseman's voice performance as T'Challa. Along with the nominations, the outlet noted that sources indicate Steinfeld will once again play the new Hawkeye in several undisclosed MCU projects.
While there's no indication when Kate Bishop could suit up again in the MCU, the most likely option is a second season of Hawkeye. Unfortunately, Marvel submitting Hawkeye as a limited series may indicate a Season 2 isn't in the works. But even if it's not, there's a good chance Kate could return to Disney+ for a Young Avengers show.
The MCU's Young Avengers
The teen team has long been rumored to be coming to the big or small screen, and Marvel has been ramping up its efforts to bring as many of the characters from the comics to the MCU as possible. Along with Kate appearing on Hawkeye, Kid Loki arrived on Loki, Eli Bradley briefly appeared on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and both WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness included Billy and Tommy Maximoff. The latter film also introduced America Chavez, making the comic book lineup nearly complete.
Cassie Lang, who becomes the size-changing hero Stature in the comics, already exists in the MCU. What's more, her recasting and new rumored plot details about Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania indicate she will get powers in the upcoming film. And as rumor has it, Kate Bishop might be in Ant-Man 3 as well. Throw in new young hero Ms. Marvel, a member of the teenage hero group the Champions in the comics, and a Young Avengers movie or TV show is a seeming lock.
