Disney+' Hawkeye has its sights on Bumblebee star Hailee Steinfeld to play the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Kate Bishop.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Steinfeld is in early talks for the role. She would join Jeremy Renner, who will star as Clint Barton in the series, and showrunner Jonathan Igla if she signs on.

Kate Bishop was created by Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung. She first appeared in 2005's Young Avengers #1 and, in addition to that team, she has also served as a West Coast Avenger.

Steinfeld is no stranger to the genre. She starred as main character Charlie in the critically acclaimed Bumblebee film and lended her voice to Gwen Stacy, aka Spider-Gwen, in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Her past credits also include Pitch Perfect 2, The Edge of Seventeen, Ender's Game and True Grit.

As revealed at Comic-Con International in San Diego, Hawkeye will see Clint Barton train Kate Bishop to become a “superhero without superpowers.” The show will also feature Ronin’s backstory, his new superhero identity in Avengers: Endgame.

Hawkeye is only one of several Marvel Studios TV series announced for Disney+. It joins fellow MCU shows Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, WandaVision, She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel and Moon Knight.

Disney+ launches on Nov. 12. Starring Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton, Hawkeye is scheduled to premiere in fall 2021.
