Square Enix's upcoming video game Marvel's Avengers had a new showcase, unveiling details about its upcoming beta and post-launch support. The biggest surprise of all, however, was the addition of fan-favorite Avenger Hawkeye.

As part of its announcement, the design team shared concept art of the character, drawing direct inspiration from Matt Fraction and David Aja's acclaimed comic book run on the character, which ran from 2012 to 2015. The character matches Clint Barton's appearance in the run, down to his bruised, bandaged visage, his hearing aids and his Mod-inspired logo tee.

Hawkeye's post-launch inclusion will include his own story mode campaign that, unlike the main campaign, can either be played solo or cooperatively. The developers hinted that a villain would surface to menace Clint without specifying who the antagonist would be. It is currently unknown if the concept will be included in the game as an alternate costume.

Fraction and Aja's Hawkeye run kicked off with the story arc "My Life as a Weapon," following Clint's daily adventures away from the Avengers after he relocated to Brooklyn. The run would earn both Eisner and Harvey Awards, concluding in 2015 after 22 issues.
