While the X-Men may have become known for their overly colorful and flashy costumes over the years, Alex Summers/Havok has never really had the same freedom to explore other costumes, as his outfit has almost always served the secondary purpose of helping him contain his abilities.

While the "Dawn of X" Havok has returned to an earlier costume in the ongoing Hellions series, there were a few other costumes fans would have loved to see him wear again. Of course, Havok has also worn a few costumes over the years that he should keep buried in his wardrobe for all time.

10 LOVE: Classic

Havok's abilities allow him to absorb and rechannel cosmic energy but his powers were initially difficult for him to control, so when he was captured by Sentinels, he was put in a containment suit designed by Larry Trask.

This suit allowed him to measure his energy output due to the concentric circles that appeared on his chest that extended to his power radius which looked great on the solid black bodysuit. His headpiece was initially part of Trask's control device, but it later became a representation of Havok's unique role as a multiversal nexus.

9 NEVER AGAIN: Magistrate

After the X-Men were forced to use the mystical Siege Perilous portal to escape from their base in the Australian outback, Havok was finally given a new costume, although it also came along with a dark new personality.

Havok had awakened with no memory of his past life as a mutant, and he became a top magistrate for the Genoshan government, who were using enslaved mutates and doing genetic testing on mutants. He thankfully regained his memories in a battle against the X-Men, though he continued to wear the overly tactical uniform to help free Genosha.

8 LOVE: X-Factor

It wasn't long before Havok returned from Genosha, and he was asked by the American government to lead a new government-sanctioned team of mutants that would take over the X-Factor title, which was originated by his brother Cyclops.

The whole team initially wore similar costumes that featured a bold yellow X on a dark blue bodysuit, though Alex paired his with a leather jacket, biker gloves, and a headpiece that left his face framed and hair exposed that characters like Gambit perfected in the 90s.

7 NEVER AGAIN: Brotherhood

Havok began to lose control of his abilities again while working with X-Factor, and he was forced back into a new version of his containment suit that would then be modified by the Dark Beast from the Age of Apocalypse reality.

The new costume featured the black bodysuit with red tech-filled shoulder bands that looked incredibly uncomfortable to wear and came with a side of mind-control that turned him against his teammates. After he freed himself from Dark Beast's control, he continued to work undercover as the leader of a new Brotherhood of Mutants.

6 LOVE: Mutant X

Havok with The Six from Mutant X

Alex Summers only found one of the best costumes of his career after his apparent death that shunted him into the body of an alternate reality Alex Summers, who had led his own version of the X-Men in the Mutant X series.

That team and the world around him was filled with dark twists on his friends and family, his new costume shined with a simple collared deep blue bodysuit with gold bracers that looked like the graduated X-costume he never received in the mainstream reality, though he tragically left the costume in that reality when he returned to his own.

5 NEVER AGAIN: Armored Havok

When Alex returned to his original reality, he spent some time in recovery before rejoining the X-Men in a new costume, which paired his black containment suit with heavily armored shoulder pads and gauntlets, though it did feature a nice update on Havok's classic headgear.

The design was an industrial take on his former Brotherhood outfit, though there wasn't much explanation or reason behind the updated armory, beyond the revelation that Alex's mind had still been dealing with the influence of a dark alternate-reality spirit that might have excused the suit's design.

4 LOVE: Starjammers

Alex once again returned to a simplified version of his costume prior to embarking on a space mission during "The Rise and Fall of the Shi'ar Empire" storyline, which served as the final evolution of a series of costumes that haunted the character after Mutant X.

His new streamlined outfit featured an updated 90s headpiece connected to an all-black containment suit with power lines that radiated from the high-tech module in his chest, which glowed the more he used his abilities. He wore this suit while leading the Starjammers against his younger brother, Gabriel/Vulcan.

3 NEVER AGAIN: High-Tech

After Havok ditched his armored shoulder pads, he appeared in a new high-tech containment suit that altered the black bodysuit with integrated circuitry and energy lines that connected to a central module in his chest.

While the containment suit's design would inspire better future versions of the costume, the oversized gauntlets looked haphazardly put together and the clear faceplate/fragile gaming helmet never really suited the character, who was known for his destructive potential.

2 LOVE: Planet X

Marvel Comics' Havok using his powers on the cover of Planet X.

Havok led the Avengers Unity Squad during a period of time where the team had been relocated to the mutant-populated Planet X after the destruction of Earth, and Havok's costume was finally given a proper high-tech upgrade.

His new black costume looked armored without being bulky or oddly fragile, the integrated faceplate and helmet looked sturdy and featured a modernized take on his classic headpiece that unfortunately never survived the storyline.

1 NEVER AGAIN: Axis

Havok in his inverted evil costume after AXIS

Havok's original Uncanny Avengers costume was a sleek update of his classic costume, though the white gloves and stripes on his cowl took away some of the character's earlier menace, but suited the character well for his new role as leader of the Avengers.

Unfortunately, after he was disfigured and later inverted during the AXIS storyline, the costume was modified to include a metallic plate that covered his scarred face, and now represented the dark turn his life had taken instead of the hopeful leader he had been when he first donned the costume with the Unity Squad.
