Hasbro's range of retro Indiana Jones action figures is about to expand to include Indy's father, Dr. Henry Jones Sr., and best friend, Sallah.

CBR has an exclusive first look at the new figures, which are part of the Indiana Jones Retro Collection. Both figures are inspired by 1989's Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, as well as Kenner's Indiana Jones toys from that era. They boast the likenesses of actors Sean Connery and John Rhys-Davis (who portrayed Henry Jones Sr. and Sallah, respectively) and feature multiple points of articulation. The figures also come packaged with unique accessories: an umbrella for Henry Jones Sr. and a pistol for Sallah.

Hasbro's expansion of the Indiana Jones Retro Collection comes at a time when the Indiana Jones franchise is back at the forefront of the public consciousness. This is due in no small part to the impending release of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Indy's hotly anticipated fifth big screen adventure. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny's first trailer dropped in December 2022 and confirmed previous reports that the sequel will reunite Harrison Ford's scrappy archeologist with Sallah, who is once again portrayed by Rhys-Davies.

The Dial of Destiny trailer also includes a handful of shots from the movie's opening sequence, which is set in 1944. The sequence features a digitally de-aged version of Ford, something the actor was initially hesitant about. Ford touched on his concerns regarding digital de-aging in a recent interview, adding that he was ultimately won over by ILM's ground-breaking approach to the process. "I can act the scene and they sort through with AI every fucking foot of film to find me in that same angle and light," he said. "It's bizarre and it works and it is my face."

The remainder of Dial of Destiny features the older Ford, who was in his late 70s during principal photography. Despite this, Ford recently confirmed that Indy's advanced age won't be used as a punchline the way it was in the fourth Indiana Jones installment, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. "In [Dial of Destiny] there were a lot of old jokes in the script. We took them all out... I'd rather create behavior that is the joke of age rather than talk about it," he said.

The Indiana Jones Retro Collection Dr. Henry Jones Sr. and Sallah figures go on sale in Summer 2023 and carry a recommended retail price of $11.99 each.
