There were a few missing heroes from Avengers: Infinity War, which is to be expected in a film teeming with Marvel characters from 10 years worth of 18 connected films. One of the characters missing for the majority of the film is Bruce Banner's Hulk, who remains inside Banner after the film's opening and is unwilling to come out and fight Thanos' forces alongside the other Avengers on Earth.
However, Hasbro has released a new figure that confirms Banner was originally going to turn into the Hulk while inside the Hulkbuster armor during the film's climactic battle in Wakanda. The figure is called the Hulk Out Hulkbuster, and it features the Jade Giant and the Hulkbuster armor built by Tony Stark and featured in Avengers: Age of Ultron, when Tony used it to take down the rampaging Hulk.
Bruce Banner donned the Hulkbuster armor in Infinity War to take on the attacking Outriders and eventually Thanos. Banner tried in vain to get the Hulk to come out and fight, but he can only partially shift into Hulk, with his alter ego preferring to stay hidden. In the end, the Hulkbuster armor is torn up with Banner still inside. The figure is also featured in a newly released Funko Pop!, and is currently on sale for $59.99.
Smash into action and HULK OUT with HULK OUT HULKBUSTER figure! Kids can bulk up their 12-inch HULK figure by assembling armor pieces to transform him into a 13.5-inch HULKBUSTER. Features movie-inspired HULK and HULKBUSTER phrases, smashing fist action, light-up eyes and battle sound effects. Includes armor and figure. Requires 2 AA batteries, included. Available at most major retailers and on HasbroToyShop.com.
Perhaps directors Joe and Anthony Russo decided to save this scene for Avengers 4, or chose to take Banner's story in a different direction. Considering the figure features "movie-inspired" phrases, whoever gets their hands on one of these action figures will have to tell us what exactly the Hulk was supposed to have said in this cut scene. Or (fingers crossed) what we might expect to hear from him when he finally Hulks out in Avengers 4.
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Infinity War stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Paul Bettany, Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Olsen, Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chadwick Boseman, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Tom Hiddleston and Josh Brolin. The movie is in theaters now.
