Long rumored for the project, a source is now claiming that Kick-Ass actor Aaron Johnson has signed on the dotted line to reteam with director Matthew Vaughn for X-Men: First Class, starring as Scott Summers, better known as Cyclops.
A source calling himself Son of Rothman — an obvious dig at Fox studio chief Tom Rothman — tells Ain't It Cool News:
I work in the [REDACTED] and we heard today that Matthew Vaughn found his young Cyclops and it shouldn't be any surprise because he worked with him before. It's Aaron Johnson. This is one hundred percent locked at this point.
Ain't It Cool's Quint states that the report has been verified with another trusted source. Assuming the casting news is made official, Johnson will have beaten out plenty of other rumored candidates, including the most recently rumored Josh Hutcherson, who now has lost out on both Spider-Man and X-Men.
