Farming sims wouldn't be where they are today if it wasn't for Harvest Moon. The iconic franchise became a surprise success, winning over millions of video game fans with its unconventional charm. Gamers have been yearning to return to the virtual farm and rekindle their love for agriculture ever since Natsume announced it Harvest Moon: Open World last year. It appears fans won't have to wait too much longer with Open World's release date emerging on the horizon.

Harvest Moon's been connecting gamers with their inner farmer ever since the original game launch in the mid to late 1990s. The series manages to live through multiple console generations and doesn't appear to be showing signs of slowing down any time soon. Although Story of Seasons intertwines with Harvest Moon, there is something about the original franchise that mesmerizes players more than any other farming sim on the market. Harvest Moon: One World will continue the tradition and allow players to create the farm of their dreams.

Plot

Harvest Moon: One World will follow the traditional Harvest Moon formula while implementing a fresh storyline for players to enjoy. Players will be transplanted to a small rural community struggling to stay afloat after the disappearance of the Harvest Goddess. Luckily, the Harvest Goddess passed down her knowledge to the various Harvest Wisps roaming the peaceful countryside. It is up to players to seek out the Harvest Wisps and make the town a thriving agricultural community once again.

The Harvest Wisps play a crucial role in Harvest Moon: One World. Not only will they give you the knowledge to rejuvenate a struggling farm community, but they will also give players new seeds for more profitable crops. Finding all the Harvest Wisps will be easier said than done and will take players on an extravagant journey through deserts, snowy mountains, rolling plains, and more. One World's environment is said to be the most expansive open world in Harvest Moon history, giving players more opportunities than ever before.

Release Date

After suffering through a delay due to the Covid 19 pandemic, Harvest Moon: One World finally has a set release date of March 2, 2021. Both the base game and a Special Edition will launch the Nintendo Switch and the PlayStation 4. The Special Edition will include an official soundtrack, cloth poster, pin set as well as a nifty collector's box. Gamers can pick up the Special Edition for $79.99 while the base game launches at $49.99. Preorders are available through Natsume's websites as well as a few other online retailers.

Unfortunately, Harvest Moon: One World won't be available on the Xbox One or PC. It's unknown if Natsume will port the game over later on, but the chances are looking slim at best.

Although Harvest Moon: One World experienced a few hiccups during its development, Natsume assures players that the delay won't affect its overall quality. This is somewhat comforting since gamers were let down by so many highly anticipated titles throughout 2020. Hopefully, Harvest Moon: One Life will live up to its expectations upon launch.
