Though the Ouran High School Host Club manga started serialization all the way back in 2002, that doesn't stop fans from being incredibly dedicated to the colorful cast of characters found within, even to this day. (Many fans still hold out hope for a Season 2!) Out of all of them, none are quite as iconic as the main character herself, Haruhi Fujioka- but she really couldn't care less if you actually see and address her as a girl or not. It's one of her most beloved characteristics, seeing past gender identity and caring only about what a person is like on the inside.
Today, we'll be taking a look at 10 Haruhi Fujioka cosplay that truly make us kiss, kiss, fall in love.
10 Chosen By The King
One thing that's clear from the very first episode of Ouran molza is the king, Tamaki's, overwhelming soft spot for the indebted host. He constantly calls her cute, tries to dress her up in all kinds of adorable outfits (most of which would certainly give away her true biological gender), and tries to steal all of her attention away from the other hosts as often as he can.
This lovely shot featuring a doe-eyed as Haruhi, being pulled in close by an incredibly happy-looking king, sums up their relationship throughout the show quite well.
The location of the shot, as well as the couch, both look incredibly regal, too, as if we're really looking at a real-life version of the Host Club itself.
9 Ball-Ready
Though Haruhi tends to wear more gender-neutral clothing, especially when she's at the academy to avoid drawing suspicion about her gender, there is the occasional exception to this rule. In the final episode of the anime, she instead dons a lovely white dress, accented with a pale yellow. It originally also had a longer wig as well as an ornate, primarily pink overcoat, but Haruhi ends up removing these for easier maneuverability.
Mostflogged pulls this look off very well, a very serene aura about her with one hand gently raised to her chest, a soft smile on her face. We can't blame her- assuming this is set after all of the drama of the final few episodes finally dies down; the host deserves a few moments of peace.
8 Interrupted Reading
While Haruhi would prefer to spend her time at Ouran Academy simply studying and preparing herself for the future, the Hitachiin brothers would prefer to stir up mischief wherever they go- and they especially love causing trouble for Haruhi. In this shot, astellecia as Haruhi looks like she's trying to get some reading done, and ended up getting a little unwanted 'help' from the twins. Raising a hand to her chin and shooting what seems to be a somewhat annoyed look at the camera, she captures Haruhi's personality quite well, and the sly, playful attitude of the twins comes across as well.
They look like they really could be in an Ouran library, adding to the overall feel. The Hitachiin cosplayers are actually twins, as well!
7 Infamous Cookie Scene
As we said before, there's nothing the Hitachiin twins love more than stirring up trouble or getting a reaction out of others- especially the newest hostess-in-disguise. When none of the other hosts eat Renge's baking, Haruhi decides to take the plunge and remarks that they're not bad. Caring way more about getting a reaction out of their king rather than actually tasting the cookies, they move in to playfully tease her while she eats, which gets them a surprised reaction in return.
This shot captures everything perfectly, and pyshe as Haruhi does an absolutely wonderful job capturing her typical doe-eyed reaction to the twin's antics, when she isn't getting angry with them.
6 A Single Red Rose
The beginning of the relationship between Haruhi and Tamaki could be described as rocky at best. She often seems annoyed with the club's king for his all-over-the-place, over-the-top attitude, and even calls him obnoxious soon after they meet. However, as the series develops, so do their feelings for each other, and they do end up as the true canon pairing by the end, at least in the manga. In this beautiful shot, Jet as Tamaki offers Haruhi a single red rose, to which she bashfully smiles and raises a hand to her mouth.
It's an incredibly endearing shot that captures the eventual sweetness of their relationship, and how Haruhi's feelings have developed, quite well.
5 Seriously Studying
When Haruhi first arrives at Ouran Academy, she can't afford one of the actual uniforms, so she simply comes wearing clothes borrowed from her father that she figured would be an okay substitute. It's a big part of the reason the hosts believe that she's really a male when they first meet her, as this incredibly gender-neutral look doesn't do her femininity any favors. Of course, it's not like she actually cares about this, as to her appearance is meaningless compared to who the actual person is.
We still think it's a cute look, though, and AtomicBrownie pulls it off perfectly!
4 A Beautiful Sunset
The ball at the end of the final episode of Ouran is truly a sweet scene, and we can only imagine this is the aftermath. Fiaziinha483 as Haruhi here is staring out into the sunset, a satisfied smile painting her face while a hand delicately rests on her chin. The details in this shot, from the costume itself to the location and the light shining down on her, are all simply breathtaking.
In the description, she also says that she made the dress herself, which looks wonderfully silky and accurate!
3 Middle School Memories
Though Haruhi looks very much gender-neutral when we're first introduced to her, she didn't always appear that way. Back in middle school, she obviously donned the female uniform but also had much longer hair. It was even said in the show that at least once every few weeks, someone would confess their 'undying love' to her and that generally she was regarded as quite beautiful. However, a kid got gum stuck in her hair the summer before high school and deciding it to be too much of a hassle, she simply cuts it short herself.
Chibimariana captures this version of Haruhi quite well! It's obvious that every bit of the accurate costume was made with love.
2 Not Another Vase
It's a little ironic to see Haruhi posing with a vase, as accidentally shattering one is what landed her in debt and a part of the Host Club to begin with. Fittingly titled "Oh, not again," aliceincosplayland pulls off an incredibly accurate Haruhi while shooting the camera a look. The contacts used for her are extremely striking and do a wonderful job of drawing in the viewer's attention.
We just really hope she keeps a good hold on that vase, or we might have a repeat of the beginning of the series all over again.
1 Christmas Host
The members of the Ouran Host Club go through all sorts of different costumes and themes throughout the series, but the only holiday we actually get to see them celebrate is Halloween, at least in the anime. This super cute take on a Christmas Haruhi by xXchiharudawnXx makes us certainly wish we could have seen them celebrate Christmas, as well!
Though it's just a simple hat and scarf, the simplicity of it suits Haruhi much better than any of the overly-extravagant costumes the other club members would try to shove her into. The decorated tree in the background looks like something that might really be at a place like Ouran, as well!
