Earlier this year, rumors swirled around a potential new Harry Potter series on HBO Max. While there are currently no confirmed Harry Potter projects beyond the Fantastic Beast films, actor Daniel Radcliffe has opinions over who he would want to play in a reboot and surprisingly, it isn't the titular Harry Potter.

Radcliffe discussed the future of Harry Potter during an appearance on Game Night -- which is a new series through Josh Horowitz's Happy Sad Confused. While the actor seemingly has no interest in reprising his titular role, there are characters he'd liked to play. "I would probably want to go with like, Sirius or Lupin," Radcliffe said. "Those were always the two characters that I was like ‘They’re great.’ And also like, I’m obviously biased by my experience of filming those scenes, with those people, and they’re like some of my favorite memories."

Many of his Miracle Workers costars, who appeared alongside Radcliffe on Game Night, joined the speculation of who they would play in a Harry Potter project. Karan Soni -- who plays The Gunslinger in the newest season of Miracle Workers and is well-known for his role as Dopinder in Fox's Deadpool and Deadpool 2 -- stated he would like to play Hermione because "that's the character I related to most."

Geraldine Viswanathan -- who plays Prudence Aberdeen in the latest season and has previously voiced Tawnie in Netflix's hit animation series Bojack Horseman -- described how she believes she'd make an excellent Hagrid. The others agreed with Soni exclaiming, "Yeah, you love animals!"

With this year being the 20th anniversary of the release of the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, there has been much renewed interest in a franchise that has been recently weighed down by substantial negative press. While Warner Bros. has already announced several Harry Potter-themed celebrations to the delight of fans, the studio has been quiet on the potential of a reunion or reboot. Radcliffe commented on the idea of a reunion, explaining, "I’m in the Dominican Republic at the moment filming, and then I’m going to be busy, kind of working on bits and pieces until the end of the year. So yeah, I don’t know. I’m sure there will be some sort of celebration, but I don’t know if we will be getting together or anything. I’m sorry if that’s a bit of a disappointment to anyone."

While Radcliffe appears open to the idea of participating in a Harry Potter reboot, other actors from the franchise are not. In a previous interview, Bonny Wright, who played Ginny Weasley, explained how she hopes there isn't a reboot. She stated, "I think it's like a time capsule, and [if] you open it and it changes and everything feels kind of different…"

All eight Harry Potter films are available on DVD and Blu-ray and are currently streaming on Peacock.
