First Look At Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery Mobile Game

The Wizarding World expands with the release of a teaser trailer for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, the upcoming mobile game from Jam City.

Launching this spring, the game will permit players to create their own character and experience life as a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the role-playing game, players will attend classes, learn magical skills, form friendships (and rivalries!), and make key decisions that will influence the course of their journey through Hogwarts.

Hogwarts Mystery "is set in the time between Harry Potter’s birth and his enrollment at Hogwarts, when Nymphadora Tonks and Bill Weasley were students." So, while players will encounter plenty of familiar faces -- Hagrid, Snape and McGonagall are glimpsed in the teaser, for instance -- they won't be able to experience the adventures as Harry Potter, or even run into the Boy Who Lived.

The game will feature both large plot arcs and smaller stories, such as relationship quests, and utilize a new encounter system in which players' decisions in both actions and narrative affect their quests, and how other characters interact with them.

Hogwarts Mystery will be released through Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment's Portkey Games, a new label dedicated to gaming experiences inspired by the works of J.K. Rowling.
