Harry Potter star Jason Isaacs has his own grim thoughts about what happened the villainous Lucius Malfoy after J.K. Rowling ended her saga with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Isaacs played the Malfoy patriarch in five of Warner Bros.' live-action movies based on Rowling's book and last appeared in 2011's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2. Discussing where Lucius went after the Battle of Hogwarts, Isaacs doesn't think things ended well for the former Death Eater.

Speaking to Syfy Wire, the star explained how the shame of being one of Voldermort's most loyal followers would've probably had a lasting effect on Lucius. "I think what would’ve happened afterwards, is that he would become a shell of himself," said Isaacs. "His money would protect him because money always protects people, and I think he would’ve lost — if he ever had any — the respect of his wife and his son. Society would shun him and he would cower inside his mansion and drink himself into an early grave. And frankly, deserve it."

Lucius showed lofty ambitions to be Voldermort's right-hand man, but the relationship evolved into something of an abusive one. As well as being sent to Azkaban, Lucius had his wand taken away by the Dark Lord and eventually fled from the Battle of Hogwarts to protect his family. While Draco Malfoy appeared in the epilogue of The Deathly Hallows and reformed his wicked ways to bury the hatched with Harry Potter, Rowling didn't expand on what happened to Lucius next.

Although the Malfoy name continued in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child with the story of Scorpius Malfoy, there was no mention of his grandfather. Isaacs noted that Lucius was already becoming a "shell" of his former self by the time The Deathly Hallows came around—which led him to conjure the character's miserable endgame. As Rowling continues to expand her Wizarding World, maybe she'll add Isaac's Malfoy musings to official canon?
