Promotional assets for Hogwarts Legacy, the upcoming open-world game set in the sprawling Harry Potter universe, will likely be released in the near future.According to video game industry data analyst Millie Amand, publisher Warner Bros. is currently sitting on an "asset" for Hogwarts Legacy. "Hogwarts update. Asset is ready. Awaiting sign off from Warner. They have final decision/approval for public release," writes Amand on Twitter. "WB concerned of more J.K media backlash, they understand it will happen regardless of when asset is shown but ‘hesitant and concerned’ is current mood." Amand did not specify what kind of asset has been prepared for Hogwarts Legacy but fans speculate that a new trailer may be dropped soon.Related: Harry Potter: Return to Hogwarts Teaser Reunites Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint

This isn't the first time Amand has predicted news relating to Hogwarts Legacy. On Nov. 15, the analyst teased that something to do with the game was due to be announced "soon." What this could be was never clarified. It's likely Amand was referring to the asset mentioned in their latest Twitter post.

Little is currently known about Hogwarts Legacy beyond the information gleaned from the game's last trailer which debuted in September 2020. Set within Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the iconic location from J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter universe, the game will allow players to create their own students and embark on a quest to save the school. The first teaser featured magical classes, duels, flying on hippogriffs and exploring the surrounding areas of the castle. Hogwarts Legacy is also set in the late 1800s, meaning that it takes place almost a century before the events of the Harry Potter books and will feature a unique cast of characters.

While gamers might be excited to leap into their own magical adventure, Hogwarts Legacy's announcement was met by a mixed reception. While many fans are excited that a video game is taking advantage of the expansive Harry Potter universe, others criticized the game due to the original creator and author J.K. Rowling's recent transphobic statements. Developer Avalanche Studios was quick to reassure people that Rowling is not directly related to the project. The game will also allow players to create transgender characters, enabling them to choose either a feminine or masculine voice regardless of their body type.

Hogwarts Legacy is currently scheduled to launch in 2022 and will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC.
