10 James And Lily Potter Could Have Been Each Other's Secret Keeper

The event that started the whole Harry Potter franchise was the death of Lily and James Potter and the survival of their son, Harry. Their location was protected by a very powerful spell known as the Fidelius Charm. This spell means that only the "Secret Keeper" can tell the secret.

The Potters made the mistake of making Peter Pettigrew their Secret Keeper instead of Sirius Black. Eventually, the Potters were betrayed. The real question is, why didn't they become each other's Secret Keepers? They would have been able to ensure the safety of each other and young Harry, so it makes no sense.

9 Peter Pettigrew Showed Up On The Marauder's Map

The notorious and mischievous Weasley twins had the Marauder's Map before they gave it to Harry. The map shows the location and names of people within Hogwarts. In Prisoner of Azkaban, the map even showed that Peter Pettigrew was present in Hogwarts, even though everyone thought he was dead.

Fans have been left wondering how Fred and George never noticed Pettigrew sleeping in Ron's bed while he was in his animagi form and acting as Ron's pet. Sure, they may not have had a reason to check up on Ron while using the map, as they mostly used it to find secret passageways and check that teachers weren't around when they were up to no good. Still, fans don't know how they never noticed.

8 Mad-Eye Moody's Eye Shouldn't Have Been So Powerful

Mad-Eye Moody in Harry Potter

Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody was a powerful and highly-regarded retired Auror and member of the Order of the Phoenix. Moody lost an eye during a battle with Death Eaters and had a magical eye made to replace it.

Moody's replacement eye could move 360 degrees and see through anything, including the back of his own head and even invisibility cloaks. If the tale of the Deathly Hollows is to be believed, even Death could not see through an invisibility cloak, so how did Moody get such a powerful magical eye?

7 Harry's Glasses Should Have Been Fixed With Magic

One of Harry Potter's most iconic parts of his appearance is that he wears circular framed glasses. Of course, he wears them because he has poor eyesight. Several other characters are seen wearing glasses in Hogwarts, including Dumbledore.

However, the Wizarding World is full of magic, so why do so many wizards and witches still wear glasses? The nurse can regrow the bones in Harry's arm in The Chamber of Secrets, but fans are supposed to believe that there is not a magical cure for poor eyesight.

6 The Basilisk's Size Left Unanswered Questions

The Basilisk dies in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

One of the most infamous creatures that Harry had to face in his years at Hogwarts was the Basilisk. The Basilisk, known as the Serpent of Slytherin, was a massive snake with venomous fangs and a stare that could kill. The Basilisk was living beneath Hogwarts for many years.

However, the Basilisk's size leaves a few unanswered questions. Surely the Basilisk was too large to have fit through the pipes it supposedly slithered through. Also, what did it eat all those years while it was in the Chamber? Rats would not have been enough for such a large beast.

5 What Are Magical Children Meant To Do Before Hogwarts?

Getting The Hogwarts Acceptance Letter

Harry Potter fans know that magical children will receive their invitation letter to Hogwarts on their eleventh birthday. This marks the start of their magical schooling and is a very exciting time. Children don their robes, buy their books, and get their first wands from Ollivanders.

However, nothing is said of what magical children do before Hogwarts. Muggleborn children, like Hermione Granger, would have gone to a typical elementary school, but nothing is said of the pureblood children. Is there a magical elementary school or do they sit around until they are eleven?

4 Hagrid's Parents And Their Relationship Aren't Explained

Robbie Coltrane as Rubeus Hagrid In Harry Potter

One of Harry Potter's most popular characters, Rubeus Hagrid, has an interesting backstory that isn't very fleshed out. Hagrid is a huge, half-giant who can easily tower over every other character. However, Hagrid is gentle, sensitive, and kind.

Hagrid's father was a short wizard who had somehow married and had a child with the giantess Fridwulfa. This relationship is never explained and is very odd because giants did not mingle with wizards. Giants were considered less intelligent and prone to violence. Fans were left wondering how the relationship happened and what society thought of it.

3 The Basilisk's Fang Should Have Destroyed Harry

The Basilisk's fang stabbing Tom Riddle's Diary in Harry Potter

Every fan knows that the most notorious evil wizard, Voldemort, used Horcruxes to ensure his immortality. To make a Horcrux, Voldemort had to tear apart his soul and place pieces of it within an object. In The Deathly Hollows, it is revealed that Voldemort accidentally made Harry one of his Horcruxes as well.

This raises a very important question: why was the Horcrux in Harry not destroyed when he was bitten by the Basilisk? Since the Basilisk fang destroyed Tom Riddle's diary, fans thought it should have destroyed Harry, too.

2 James And Lily Left Harry A Ridiculous Amount Of Money

Harry Potter Sees His Money For The First Time

From the beginning of Harry Potter, viewers were aware that Harry was an orphan who had to live with his despicable aunt and uncle. The Dursleys were awful to Harry and gave him very little. This is starkly contrasted by what Harry receives in the Wizarding World.

1 Lupin As A Werewolf Could Have Killed The Marauders

Remus Lupin as a werewolf in Harry Potter

Serious fans of the Harry Potter series are familiar with the Marauders, the name given to a group of students who once attended Hogwarts. These students were James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew.

The Marauders all learned how to be powerful animagi, wizards who could change into animals, to help Lupin during his transformation into a werewolf. However, this doesn't make much sense. Lupin was a powerful werewolf and the others were a stag, a dog, and a rat. Lupin could have easily attacked and killed all of them, and it was never explained why he didn't ever succumb to his anger around them.
