The Harley Quinn show recently landed its third season and moved exclusively to HBO Max in the process. Showrunners Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker opened up about what fans can expect from the new season, confirming that the show will shift a narrative focus to Poison Ivy for a few stories.

Deadline asked Halpern if the show would examine Ivy's origins in addition to Commissioner Gordon's low approval rating in Gotham. Halpern replied, "Definitely. We spent two years digging into Harley, and Ivy was her own character, but her stories were told mostly in relation to Harley. So, I think in this third season, it’d be interesting to flip that, and dig deeper into Ivy and her life, and tell some stories through her point of view. So, we’re excited to be able to do that because it feels completely new—somewhere to go that we haven’t gone, that isn’t going to make the audience feel like, 'We saw two seasons of that. What the f**k is this?'"

Season 1 chronicled Harley's split from the Joker and the formation of her new villainous gang, which included Ivy, King Shark, Clayface, Doctor Psycho and Sy Borgman. Season 2 depicted Harley's further rise to power and prominence in the villain community --and featured her realizing her feelings for her best friend, Poison Ivy. By the second season's end, Harley and Ivy finally got together, riding off into the sunset together as a slew of cop cars chased them down the highway.

Harley Quinn stars Kaley Cuoco, Lake Bell, Diedrich Bader, Alan Tudyk, Rahul Kohli, Christopher Meloni, Tony Hale, Ron Funches, Wanda Sykes, Natalie Morales, Jim Rash, Giancarlo Esposito, Jason Alexander and J.B. Smoove. Both seasons of the show are available to stream on DC Universe and HBO Max.
