DC has announced HBO Max has ordered a third season of the adult animated comedy series Harley Quinn.

The series starring Kaley Cuoco, who also served as executive producer during the first two seasons along with Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker, Dean Lorey and Sam Register, was a DC Universe original series but will now be a Max Original going forward. DC Universe is transitioning into DC Universe Infinite, a premium comic book subscription service, with all DC Universe originals such as Young Justice Seasons 1-4, Titans Seasons 1-3, Doom Patrol Seasons 1-3 and DC's Stargirl Season 1 moving exclusively to HBO Max.

Rumors had been swirling regarding the fate of Harley Quinn, with speculation ranging from negotiations with HBO Max hinging on a new budget and the recent executive shake-up at WarnerMedia causing a delay in an official announcement of Harley Quinn's fate.

Harley Quinn executive producer Justin Halpern recently revealed that he'd like Season 3 of his animated series to explore Harley and Poison Ivy's romance, which was the focus of the Season 2 finale.

Harley Quinn stars Kaley Cuoco, Lake Bell, Diedrich Bader, Alan Tudyk, Rahul Kohli, Christopher Meloni, Tony Hale, Ron Funches, Wanda Sykes, Natalie Morales, Jim Rash, Giancarlo Esposito, Jason Alexander and J.B. Smoove. Both seasons of the show are available to stream on DC Universe and HBO Max.
