Ever since the start of his Batman run in January, writer James Tynion IV has teased the epic "Joker War" storyline, as the Clown Prince of Crime launches a devastating attack on Gotham City throughout the various Batman-related comic book titles. The crossover storyline is slated to begin next month in Batman #95.

Ahead of the release of its advance solicitation information for its titles slated to go on sale in September, DC has shared new details and the standard covers for Batman #98-99, the first two official installments of "Joker War." The cover of Batman #98, illustrated by David Finch, and issue #99, illustrated by Batman artist Jorge Jimenez, are below.

Batman #98 will have the Dark Knight brought low after enduring an experimental dose of the Joker's latest signature toxin. As Punchline arrives to finish the job, Harley Quinn resurfaces as the Caped Crusader's unexpected savior.

Batman #99 has a recovering Bruce Wayne look for much-needed support to save the day, turning to his first partner, Dick Grayson. The hero endured a traumatic brain injury during Tom King's run at the hands of KGBeast, with his mind subsequently tampered by the Court of Owls and Joker himself. Back in the fight, Grayson will have to reform his shattered mind if he hopes to suit back up as Nightwing in time to help his mentor.
