WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Harley Quinn Season 2, Episode 12, "Lovers' Quarrel," now streaming on DC Universe.

One of the questions at the center of DC Universe's Harley Quinn has been with whom Poison Ivy will up romantically. While Harley eventually realized she had feelings for Ivy, the Batman villain's relationship with Chuck Brown/Kite-Man kept them apart. Ivy and Harley did eventually have sex during the former's bachelorette party on Themyscira, but the two's relationship never quite took off. Ivy, looking for security, did not believe she could trust Harley with her heart, and so rejected the Clown Princess of Crime. However, the latest episode of the DC Universe series confirms Harley Quinn is, in fact, Poison Ivy's true love.

After liberating the Justice League, Harley is attacked by Poison Ivy, who is under the control of Doctor Psycho. Kite-Man saves Harley before Ivy can kill her and explains to the Clown Princess of Crime that Psycho struck a deal with Darkseid to gain control of Earth. The Justice League proceeds to defend Earth and beat up the Parademons, and Harley arrives to keep the group from putting Ivy in the Phantom Zone. Eventually Ivy captures Harley and brings her back to the base at the mall. However, while this has been happening, Kite-Man has been working with a digitized version of the dead Sy Borgman to create an anti-mind control device.

Kite-Man only has two anti-mind control devices. He gives one to Harley and asks her to put the other in Ivy's ear. Kite-Man's plan for himself is to kiss Ivy and thus break Psycho's spell through the power of "true love." This does not work, and he's batted away. Harley and Ivy then face off against each other. During the confrontation, Harley starts losing the battle and drops the anti-mind control device. Just as Ivy looks set to kill the Clown Princess of Crime, Harley reaches up and kisses her best friend. This kiss breaks Psycho's hold on Ivy, and Harley says, "Holy shit. True love worked."

Harley puts the anti-mind control device in Ivy's ear, and the duo go after their psychic attacker. Darkseid offers to give Harley dominion over Earth, but she instead chooses to reject her, realizing that's not what she wants from live. Harley admits she's not even really sure that she's a bad guy anymore and has, in fact, mostly just been reacting to events around her. Darkseid threatens Earth and then leaves.

The Clown Princess of Crime again confesses her feelings to Ivy and asks her to take a risk by being with her. However, before Ivy can answer, Kite-Man emerges. Psycho, who earlier in the episode revealed he saw Harley and Ivy having sex while inside the latter's mind, then broadcasts footage of the event to all of Gotham. Kite-Man sees this footage, and as the episode ends, he looks on in shock, pain and confusion.

While this kiss doesn't change Ivy's reservations about being with Harley, the show has definitively confirmed the two are true loves. Overall, the path for the two hasn't been easy, and it's still entirely possible Ivy will marry Kite-Man. Still, true love may just win in the end.

DC Universe's Harley Quinn stars Kaley Cuoco, Lake Bell, Diedrich Bader, Alan Tudyk, Rahul Kohli, Christopher Meloni, Tony Hale, Ron Funches, Wanda Sykes, Natalie Morales, Jim Rash, Giancarlo Esposito, Jason Alexander and J.B. Smoove. New episodes air on Fridays.
