WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Harley Quinn Season 2, Episode 12, "Lovers' Quarrel," now streaming on DC Universe.

In Season 2 of Harley Quinn, Harley brought back the Justice League with the aid of the Joker of all people after she decided that, to save Gotham from Dr. Psycho and his Parademon army, the big guns were needed. After all, she can't stand to see the city razed by someone who's turning out to be her nastiest villain. Not only does the sinister Psycho know her inside out, he's using Wayne Industries tech to amplify his powers and do what Harley couldn't.

However, as much as fans thought the returning League, particularly the Trinity, would easily remedy the situation, that doesn't happen. Instead, Psycho unleashes the ultimate weapon on them -- lust -- and takes the heroes down using sex.

When Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman start making quick work of the Parademons, Psycho sends brainwashed versions of Clayface, Poison Ivy and King Shark to counterattack. The latter do a very formidable job but the Trinity still emerge victorious as they work to take Ivy down atop Wayne Tower. Or so we think, because while Superman burns her vines away and opts to send her to the Phantom Zone, Psycho instructs Ivy to use love pheromones on the League.

In a move that would impress Uma Thurman's version of the character from Batman and Robin, Ivy blasts the unsuspecting heroes, and Wonder Woman immediately goes after Batman and asks what's beneath his kevlar armor. Meanwhile, the Man of Steel decides to show Harley his pecs of steel, flexing and grossing her out in a display of toxic masculinity.

The heroes have no interest in Ivy or Psycho anymore, because the tyrant has clearly found their biggest weakness. The erotic distraction shows even gods and aliens are susceptible to the most basic human instinct.

Ivy then grabs Harley and takes her to Psycho's lair at the mall, leaving the heroes on the rooftop basking in their carnal nature. What's intriguing is, while we don't see it happen, it appears Superman jumps in for a threesome with Wonder Woman and Batman as he says he can see under their costumes, putting a whole new spin on the Trinity. It seems to be a happy ending for them as they don't factor in again, but that leaves Harley to fend off Darkseid and Psycho by herself.

Thankfully, she has Kite Man, but with the Trinity out of commission, Harley's outmatched by enemies that want to burn Gotham to the ground. Nonetheless, while it's not conducive to Gotham's safety, it's pretty funny because this apparent hook-up isn't something we'd see in DC's mainstream books or even more mature comics, like the Black Label line.

Then again, Harley Quinn pushes the boundaries on so many levels, we can't say that this ménage à trois is too surprising. It fits the aesthetic of the show, and just like when Harley and Ivy had their regrettable flings, we can't wait to see the morning after interaction between the Trinity. Their dynamic will definitely be comedic and if this tryst leaks out to the other members of the Justice League, it'll add new meaning to teamwork and chemistry.

DC Universe's Harley Quinn stars Kaley Cuoco, Lake Bell, Diedrich Bader, Alan Tudyk, Rahul Kohli, Christopher Meloni, Tony Hale, Ron Funches, Wanda Sykes, Natalie Morales, Jim Rash, Giancarlo Esposito, Jason Alexander and J.B. Smoove. New episodes air on Fridays.
