Harley Quinn cosplayer Marty Cipher has shared some incredible photos of herself in costume as the DC Extended Universe version of the fan-favorite character.

Cipher responded to a prompt from the official Harley Quinn animated series Twitter account asking for fans to send in photos of themselves dressed up as the DC character or her "boo," Poison Ivy. "I dress up as you all year long my queen," Cipher replied, sharing three images of herself dressed as Harley Quinn. DC fans quickly pointed out how much the cosplayer looked like Margot Robbie, with many remarking the resemblance was uncanny. Robbie first appeared as Harley Quinn in 2016's Suicide Squad and has since reprised the role twice in 2020's Birds of Prey and 2021's The Suicide Squad.

Although Harley Quinn was initially meant to appear in only one episode of Batman: The Animated Series, 1992's "Joker's Favor," the character's surprising popularity with fans allowed the creative team the opportunity to turn her into a recurring character within the DC Animated Universe. Harley Quinn was written into comic book canon in October 1999 following her continued success on television, going on to star in multiple solo series as well as feature prominently in Suicide Squad comics. The character is currently so popular with audiences that DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn recently namedropped her alongside Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and Aquaman as characters important to the future of the DC Universe.

Harley Quinn Is Heading Back to the Big Screen

The beloved DC character will make her grand return to the big screen in 2024's Joker: Folie à Deux, where she will be played by superstar Lady Gaga. The upcoming DC film serves as a sequel to 2019's Joker and will primarily focus on Joaquin Phoenix's Arthur Fleck's time in Arkham Asylum. Although filming on the DC sequel won't start until this November, cinematographer Lawrence Sher has already praised Lady Gaga's performance as Harley Quinn, stating that Gaga "will create a similar kind of magic that Joaquin brought by himself." He added, "The combination of the two will be exactly what we hope, which is exciting, and we’ll find magic every day on set. Hopefully, we’ll also have a bit of madness in there. We like when there is a little bit of chaos."

DC fans will also be able to catch more of Harley Quinn in her popular adult animated series, which was recently renewed for a fourth season. Harley Quinn follows the misadventures of Harley Quinn and her best friend and lover, Poison Ivy, after leaving her boyfriend, the Joker. She has also been confirmed as a playable character in the 2023 video game Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which is set in the same universe as the Batman: Arkham series.

All three seasons of Harley Quinn are currently available to stream on HBO Max. Joker: Folie à Deux hits theaters on Oct. 4, 2024.
