With rumors continuing to circulate regarding Venom and whether or not we'll get to see Hardy in costume, the actor has taken to Instagram to quell what he calls "asinine" claims.
When Sony finally unveiled the first teaser trailer for Venom starring Tom Hardy, many were frustrated with the lack of actual Venom featured in the trailer. So when a new rumor surfaced earlier this week, suggesting that the lack of Venom in the trailer was because the film itself won't offer a glimpse of Venom in his suit until the finale of the film, it only frustrated fans even more. Now, star Tom Hardy has taken to social media to seemingly dispel those rumors and reassure fans that we'll definitely get to see the Venom suit.
In an Instagram post yesterday, Hardy posted a black and white photo featuring a fan eater logo with the caption, "Venom ♠️???? just sayin Venom suit - myths usually asinine circulate about things usually by those who have failed to garner credible intel."
Hardy, who joined Instagram late last year, has often used the social media platform to share behind the scenes bits from production on Venom. In fact, he even revealed the film had wrapped production back in January with two behind the scenes photos, one of which featured director Ruben Fleischer. Still, this is the first time the actor has used his account to denounce any rumors surrounding the project, although it's highly probable it won't be the last time. After all, despite the film being set to hit theaters this October, Sony has yet to fully begin a marketing push for the film which is expected to mark the beginning of their own Spider-Man universe.
For now, though details remain sparse surrounding the project, we can at least be certain Hardy will sport the Venom suit at some point in the film.
Directed by Ruben Fleischer from a script by Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg, Venom stars Tom Hardy, Jenny Slate, Michelle Williams and Riz Ahmed. The film arrives Oct. 5, 2018.
