Comicbook.com reports that the script for "Harbinger" has been submitted, and according to Valiant Entertainment CEO Dinesh Shamdasani, it's "fantastic." Although final say belongs to the distributor, Sony, "Harbinger" is currently looking at a 2018 release date.

"Harbinger" focuses on psiots -- people born with psychic abilities. These can range from the obvious, like mind-reading, to totally insane powers, like those possessed by Animalia, a psiot who can turn into cartoon animals. The comic series from which it is based follows the world's two most powerful psiots. Toyo Harada, founder of the Harbinger Foundation, wants to save the world by any means necessary. He recruits Peter Stanchek, a troubled kid who may rival him in terms of power, who has the ability to awaken latent psiotic abilities in others. Peter quickly discovers just how shady Harada is and goes on the run with a team of misfit psiots called the Renegades. The entire story is like a topsy-turvy take on the X-Men, about teenagers trying to defend a world that hates and fears them.

Valiant is also making a movie based on its "Bloodshot" series. "Harbinger" and "Bloodshot" first crossed over in the 2012 comic "Harbinger Wars."

It is not yet confirmed if the "Harbinger" movie will tie-into to the upcoming digital series, "Ninjak Vs. the Valiant Universe."
