After 10 years of production, Brian Henson's tribute to his father's legacy, The Happytime Murders, is almost here, and it looks... appropriately disgusting.

A broad parody of "For your consideration" ads, the hard-R teaser of the Muppets parody spoofs all sorts of awards-season tropes. From hyperbolic social media quotes to... explosive reactions, the brief teaser is pretty exhaustive. The advertisement is extremely effective, as it sells the film's rating while giving away almost nothing regarding its story.

In between the back-of-the-box quotes, viewers get blindsided by puppet masturbation, puppet sex, puppet sex workers, a puppet homage to the interrogation scene in Basic Instinct, puppet murder and puppets doing drugs. We also get quick looks at human stars Melissa McCarthy, Joel McHale, Elizabeth Banks and Maya Rudolph.

While some might ponder whether Brian Henson and star Melissa McCarthy can pull this off, it's actually a feat that the film even exists. After 10 years in production hell and a near-miss lawsuit from Sesame Street, many thought The Happytime Murders might not ever get made. Henson, who directed The Muppet Christmas Carol and Muppet Treasure Island, seemingly willed the film into existence.

Directed by Henson and written by Todd Berger (The Smurfs: A Christmas Carol) and Dee Austin Roberts, the film will assault our senses (and sensitivities) in theaters next week, on Aug. 24.
