Hannibal Gets April Premiere

NBC has finally announced an April 4 premiere date for Hannibal, the Bryan Fuller thriller that explores the budding relationship between a young Dr. Lecter and FBI profiler Will Graham. “Hey, wanna come over for dinner?” the show’s creator followed up in a tweet.

Unfortunately, the network has given the series the Thursdays at 10 p.m. time slot long occupied by ER that has last season became a graveyard for new dramas: Prime Suspect, The Firm and Awake, followed, as Deadline points out, this season by Do No Harm, which got the ax after just two episodes.

Fuller created Hannibal based on Thomas Harris’ famous genius, serial killer and cannibal seen in The Red Dragon, Silence of the Lambs and other films. The series takes a look at a younger Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) who uses his skills as a psychologists to help FBI profiler Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) and his team track down criminals. Laurence Fishburne, Scott Thompson and Caroline Dhavernas have joined the cast as full-timers along with guests Gillian Anderson and Lance Henriksen.
