WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Star Wars: Doctor Aphra #10 by Alyssa Wong, Ray-Anthony Height, Victor Olazaba, Joe Caramagna and Rachelle Rosenberg, on sale now.

Between the Force, lightsabers, and a mess of other science fiction technology, the heroes of Star Wars have plenty of tricks to get themselves out of dire situations. Some of the heroes do not have a need for high-tech weaponry or space wizardry and elect for a much more conventional approach to have things their way. Sana Starros just proved that words can sometimes be more effective than violence.

In Star Wars: Doctor Aphra #10, Aphra and Starros are caught in the middle of a hostage situation involving the Unbroken Clan. The pair have already had previous entanglements with the new crime syndicate, and Aphra did not want to push their luck. The Unbroken Clan was trying to force engineers to prove that an experimental hyperdrive is functional. As time began to tick away, they began killing hostages.

Aphra was aware that the experimental tech was a fake and wanted to flee before the Unbroken Clan was aware of their presence. Starros attempted to convince Aphra otherwise but Aphra did not feel as though they had a realistic chance to survive the encounter. Realizing that there is no convincing her, Starros pulled out the big guns by guilting Aphra and stated that one of Aphra's previous loves would disagree with her decision. Sana's guilt trip worked, causing Aphra to immediately jump into action in an effort to save the hostages.

Starros Guilts Aphra

While not the most expected approach, Sana's wordsmith skills and guilt trips have proven successful in the past. In 2015's Star Wars #6 by Jason Aaron, John Cassaday, Laura Martin and Chris Eliopoulos, Sana Starros confronted Han Solo and Princess Leia and claimed to be Han Solo's wife. Sana really proved her mental dexterity by continually making small jabs at Han and playing up her role. It helped her sell the idea that she actually was Han's wife.

Sana originally planned to sell Leia to the Empire by alerting a Star Destroyer of their location. Sana's opinion of the situation changed when she learned that Han was also a Rebel. She then led Han and Leia to her ship where they escaped the Empire's grasp. Sana continued to push the marriage narrative which Leia completely believed. This pushed Han to explain that he and Sana staged a wedding in an attempt to get back at a crime lord. Eventually, Leia would save Sana and explained that she was not actually Han's wife.

Sana Starros Han Solo Wife (1)

Sana mentioned to Leia that the marriage was a complete scam and she only tracked Han down to get what was owed to her. In order for Sana to get what she desired, she elected to play up the wife angle and guilted Han into siding with her. Solo, being fully invested in the Rebellion and Leia at this point, panicked when Sana claimed to be his wife and tarnish his name. If Solo would have had anything to offer, Sana would have easily obtained it by using guilt and her other talents.

Sana Starros has proven many times over that she is a talented wordsmith that can deceive just about anyone to get what she desires. Before joining the Rebellion, she effectively used her skills against Han and Leia. Now that she's working alongside her former enemy Doctor Aphra, Starros has used her talents to make Aphra act in a more heroic fashion. She is effectively finding ways to be Aphra's moral compass and guide her towards more righteous missions. Aphra is one of the most strong-willed characters in the Star Wars universe, and it will take the full force of Starros' talents to keep her out of trouble.
