In a new interview with the star of the upcoming Han Solo film, actor Alden Ehrenreich confirmed the presence of a Young Chewbacca in the Star Wars anthology movie, in addition to touching on his excitement over Donald Glover playing a young Lando Calrissian.
"I’m allowed to say that I’m really excited about Donald Glover’s casting," Ehrenreich told Variety, with regard to Glover's Lando casting. The "Atlanta" and "Community" star will play a much younger version of the smuggler-turned rebel pilot.
He added, "I think he’s going to be great in the role because he’s such a talented and interesting guy. And I can say that Chewbacca’s in the film, although I know that’s not a huge spoiler."
Ehrenreich elaborated jokingly, "He’s as much younger as I am in the film...So, I think he’s like 190 — or something — years old. I don’t think there’s a huge growth spurt for him from 190 to 210, so he’s probably about the same height.”
As for who plays Chewbacca in the film, that's yet to be announced. Perhaps we'll see original "Star Wars" actor Peter Mayhew back in the costume...
Directed by "The LEGO Movie's" Phil Lord and Chris Miller and written by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan, the "Han Solo" Star Wars anthology film hits theaters on May 25, 2018.
