Hamlet Getting Modern Spin With Fox Political Thriller

Get ready for some skull-holding on Fox, as Deadline reports the network has signed a commitment with writer and executive producer Paul Redford for a drama called America's Son.

The series has roots in William Shakespeare's Hamlet, and revolves around the son of a prominent Washington, D.C., politician who returns home after the dubious death of his father. As it turns out, what looked like a car accident was actually much more nefarious. This sets the son on a mission of discovery to find the truth, but he winds up digging up more about his family than expected.

The show, which sounds like an amalgamation of two other shows Redford worked on, The West Wing and Dirty Sexy Money, is being produced by Redford along with Sony Pictures TV as well as Steven Spielberg's recently renamed Amblin TV.
