Could Broadway superstar Lin-Manuel Miranda be eyeing a role in the Marvel movie universe? According to Simon Thompson, of the YouTube film show "Meet The Movie Press," the answer is "yes."

Thompson was discussing an interview he had with Miranda with co-host Jeff Sneider. He revealed that Miranda has a great relationship with Disney, which owns Marvel. He also mentioned that Miranda has his sights set on a very specific character:

"He is a big fan of Marvel. And there is one particular character that he would actually like to play. It's Carnage. He said if Disney and Marvel were looking at doing a Maximum Carnage movie or bringing Carnage in as a character, he wants to be Carnage. And he wasn't like, 'blah-blah-blah.' Genuinely as a fan, he would love that. It's a goal of his."

The hosts seemed to support the idea. Sneider commented that he "respects that," after learning that Miranda read comics growing up. Thompson took his approval a step further. Not only did he remark that the prospect would be "doable," he believes that Miranda would be "good" in the role.

The two went on to speculate if Miranda leaked the idea as a way to get the ball rolling on a potential future film, acknowledging that Miranda is currently at the height of his popularity.

For now, it's just speculation. It seems, however, that the foundation is there if a Spider-Man movie with Carnage (and Miranda) is something the studio wants to move forward with.

According to Thompson, the star appears willing and able. He also noted that Miranda's ties with Disney will continue to grow for the foreseeable future, as he's involved with several upcoming releases, including "The Little Mermaid" and a yet-to-be-revealed secret project.
