A cheap Captain Kirk mask was famously the basis for the original Michael Myers mask in 1978's Halloween and producer Malek Akkad wants William Shatner to appear in the horror franchise as a nod to the connection.

While The Shape has varied from film-to-film to mixed reception, fans prefer the original mold from a Captain Kirk mask purchased for $1.98 from a Los Angeles magic shop before being altered and painted into the iconic slasher visage. Akkad was asked by HalloweenMovies.com during an on-set visit if Shatner has ever commented on providing the basis for the mask.

"From what I hear he doesn’t really acknowledge it. I think he makes light of it," revealed Akkad. "We actually have one of the original impressions of Shatner in our office in LA, so obviously we’re really grateful to him and, in certain ways, we’ve tried to reach out to him; maybe do an appearance? Lord knows he’s busy enough with Star Trek stuff, but you never know."

If Shatner did ever appear opposite The Shape, it would be the veteran actor literally facing himself, in manner of speaking.
