A trailer for Halloween Kills, the newest entry in the Halloween franchise, is ready for release but Universal/Blumhouse isn't unleashing it just yet.

In an interview with FandomHalloween Kills producer Jason Blum explained that the reason for the trailer being shelved is the current uncertainty surrounding the film industry. "The reason [a trailer] hasn't come out yet is because we don't know what the world is going to look like in October," Blum explained, "Right now we're still planning on releasing the movie in October but if there's no way to release it [theatrically], then we're not sure."

Blum continued, "So we're not going to release the trailer until we really are very sure when people are going to get to see the movie." He then added, "But we have a great trailer and a great movie and I can't wait for everybody to see it."

Plot details on Halloween Kills have been kept under wraps so far, but early footage indicates the sequel takes place moments after the 2018 Halloween revival, with Michael Myers continuing to pursue Laurie and her family on Halloween night through Haddonfield, Illinois.

Directed by David Gordon Green and written by Green, Danny McBride, Paul Brad Logan and Chris Bernier, Halloween Kills stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Andi Matichak and Judy Greer. The film is set to hit theaters on Oct. 16, 2020.
