Halloween Kills is one of the most anticipated movies of the year, especially for the spooky season. And like many movies in the past year, the film is utilizing a unique release method through which to maximize potential viewers. In fact, Halloween Kills will not only be released theatrically during October, but it's also coming to the Peacock streaming service for some viewers.

However, things won't be as simple as signing up for Peacock, and to make even matters more confusing, those unfamiliar with the series will be unsure of how it connects to other entries. With that being the case, here's a look at the exact details of how to watch Halloween Kills in theaters and at home, as well as where it stands within the franchise's continuity.

What Is Halloween Kills About?

Halloween Kills picks up after the 2018 reboot, in which Michael Myers was supposedly killed. Of course, that doesn't end up being the case, much to the chagrin of Laurie Strode and her family. Determined to rid Haddonfield of the threat of the Shape once and for all, Laurie, her daughter and granddaughter team up with the town's residents to wage war on Michael Myers.

As a sequel to 2018's HalloweenHalloween Kills treats both this predecessor and the original John Carpenter-directed as the only canon. Thus, sequels in which it was revealed that Laurie is Michael Myers' sister are no longer part of continuity. As seen in the newest trailer, however, there are several shout-outs and callbacks to different movies in the series' history. This includes the third film, Season of the Witch, which has no connection to the Michael Myers movies in terms of plot.

Given that Halloween Kills is still two weeks away from release, news regarding ticket sales is still a bit mum. But while audiences can't yet secure tickets to go and see the movie in their local theaters, they will be available through the typical venues. These include Fandango, Cinemark, AMC and Atom Tickets, with the movie chains, in particular, being fairly ubiquitous in most states. The October 15 release date may be two weeks before the titular holiday, but fans will decide how gruesomely Halloween Kills kills at the box office when it comes out.

To see Michael Myers' next rampage, Halloween Kills hits theaters Oct. 15.
