Infamous Halloween: Resurrection star and rap artist Busta Rhymes almost made it into Halloween Kills.

Director David Gordon Green attended the Halloween Kills premiere at Beyond Fest, where he answered questions from fans. When asked about the numerous Easter eggs in the new film, Green shared, "I literally said to [VP of Development at Blumhouse Productions] Ryan Turek the other day, 'Should Busta Rhymes be in the next one?'"

Explaining why the new movies contain so many nostalgic cameos, the filmmaker elaborated, "This one, I think, was full of a lot of that fan fulfillment for me, in so many ways." Looking toward the future, he indicated that the franchise would continue to balance the old with the new, stating, "The next one, I'm trying to think, I think there's some little tidbits. But it's nothing overt or excitingly realized. It's kind of a wash of the world that we've established here. And then some new faces and voices that take center stage, alongside."

Rhymes wasn't the only franchise alum who almost made it into Halloween Kills, as producer Ryan Freimann lobbied for a Danielle Harris cameo. Harris famously portrayed Michael Myers' niece Jamie Lloyd in a pair of Halloween films between 1988 and 1989. She then appeared in Rob Zombie's Halloween remakes, albeit in a completely different role. Freimann recently expressed his dissatisfaction with the Sartain twist in 2018's Halloween and suggested that negative fan reaction to the reveal resulted in them shifting directions in the sequel.

Halloween Kills slashes its way into theaters on Oct. 15. It will also be available to stream from the same day on Peacock.
