WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Halloween Kills, now playing in theaters and on Peacock.

As Michael Myers continues his bloody rampage in Halloween Kills, he tears Haddonfield, Illinois, apart. The body count is as high as ever as a mob tries to hunt him, culminating with the slasher dealing Laurie Strode a massive blow. He ends the film by slicing Laurie's daughter, Karen, to death. While that's a tough pill to swallow, it isn't the film's most heartbreaking death.

Sure, Karen's death is a big blow because Laurie and Allyson (her daughter) will want revenge, unleashing their inner monsters to ensure Michael's put six feet under. However, Karen was destined for this fate when she stupidly wandered to Michael's sister's window in the finale, neglecting to take cops with her when she thought she saw the girl's ghost.

Michael Myers murders Karen in Halloween Kills

The more tragic killing is actually Allyson's boyfriend, Cameron, who's trying to atone after cheating on his girlfriend in the 2018 film. In that movie, he was more of a jerk, but after his buddy, Oscar, got gutted and Allyson's family was attacked, he tries to seek redemption. It's why he partners with his dad, the ex-bully in Lonnie, and Tommy's crew of survivors to hunt Michael down. He knows Allyson's marked for death, and he wants to protect his beloved, no matter the cost. Unfortunately, as Cameron travels with Allyson and his father, they find Michael in his old home.

Lonnie goes in first, telling the kids to stay behind, but they soon hear a gunshot. They rush in and find Lonnie dead in the attic before Michael attacks. He smashes Cameron's head through a banister atop a stairwell before then the stairs and snapping his neck. This entire sequence is slow and painful, with Allyson having to watch as her boyfriend is killed while calling out her name.

And to make matters worse, Cameron gets a good look at his dad's body as Michael ends him. They didn't always see eye-to-eye, but these final moments make it clear that Cameron just wanted to do the right thing by helping stop a monster. Sadly, Michael isn't a hopeless romantic and isn't afraid to snuff out the teenage love in the blink of an eye.

In fact, Michael seems to enjoy the pain of this moment, turning something sentimental into something sinister. He wants Allyson to know as she watches that this relationship was never in the cards due to the sins of her grandmother.

To see Cameron's heartbreaking sacrifice, Halloween Kills is now in theaters and streaming on Peacock.
