Halloween Ends, the final film in Blumhouse's Halloween sequel trilogy, has received its film rating.

According to FilmRatings.com, Halloween Ends has been officially "Rated R for bloody horror violence and gore, language throughout and some sexual references" by the Motion Picture Association. Based on the reasoning behind the film rating, it looks like Halloween Ends will try and beat the kill count Michael Myers achieved in 2021's Halloween Kills, which featured several bloody and creative kills by the slasher icon.

Halloween Ends originally entered development along with the then-untitled Halloween Kills in July 2019. Filming was originally set to begin in the summer of 2020 but was delayed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Production finally started in January 2022 with David Gordon Green returning as director after helming the last two installments in the franchise. Filming for Halloween Ends wrapped in March 2022 with co-producer Ryan Turek sharing a warmly lit behind-the-scenes photo taken on an outdoor bridge set during sunset. The first Halloween Ends trailer was released in July 2022.

Halloween Ends is Laurie Strode's Last Stand

The upcoming slasher film, which serves as a direct sequel to 2021's Halloween Kills, will pick up four years after the events of Kills and 2018's Halloween, which both took place on the same night. Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her role from previous Halloween films as Laurie Strode, who is now working on her memoir while living with her granddaughter Allyson. Michael Myers has not been seen since 2018. "Laurie, after allowing the specter of Michael to determine and drive her reality for decades, has decided to liberate herself from fear and rage and embrace life," reads the film's official synopsis. "But when a young man, Corey Cunningham, is accused of killing a boy he was babysitting, it ignites a cascade of violence and terror that will force Laurie to finally confront the evil she can’t control, once and for all."

Rohan Campbell, best known for his work in The Hardy Boys and Virgin River, joins the cast as Corey Cunningham. The film will be produced by Jason Blum through his Blumhouse Productions banner alongside Rough House Productions, Miramax and Trancas International Pictures.

Halloween Ends opens in theaters on Oct. 14.
