Jamie Lee Curtis recently promised audiences that Halloween Ends will feature a cathartic finish for Laurie Strode, the iconic 'final girl' that she first played 44 years ago.

In an interview with Salon, Curtis, who will have played the slasher heroine seven times upon the release of the film, described her feelings towards bringing the character to an apparent end. "I just three weeks ago finished shooting the last shot of Laurie Strode. It was deeply emotional and cathartic," Curtis said. She went on to say, "I mean, when you call her a final girl - I never really understood how important that name was until I made this last movie. And now I really understand it."

While Curtis has become well known for a variety of film and television roles, including a recent appearance in the critically acclaimed Everything Everywhere All at Once, it is her portrayal of Laurie Strode that has made her an iconic name among horror fans. She is often considered one of the first "final girls" in cinema-- a term used to describe the last woman alive to make the final stand against the killer. Curtis has additionally hinted Halloween Ends will serve the franchise with an "unbelievable" ending.

Specific plot details regarding Halloween Ends remain scarce. It has been reported the film is intended to be the third and final installment of the franchise reboot, which began in 2018 with Halloween, itself a direct sequel to the original 1978 film of the same name; and continued with 2021's Halloween Kills. The film will return to the town of Haddonfield, Illinois, as its residents continue to battle deranged serial killer Michael Myers.

As with its two predecessors, Halloween Ends was directed by David Gordon Green, who co-wrote the script with actor Danny McBride. The original creator of the franchise, John Carpenter, is also involved with the film, serving as its composer and executive producer, a role he also held with the past two movies.

Filming on Halloween Ends was completed this past March. The film was originally planned to be shot back-to-back with Halloween Kills for a 2021 release. However, the project was forced to be delayed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. While there has been little marketing up to this point, Curtis revealed on social media that the first trailer for the film will be released on July 20.

Halloween Ends is scheduled to hit theaters on Oct. 14.
