Halloween Ends is right around the corner, but fans who aren't content to sit around and wait to see whether or not Laurie Strode finally ends her decades-long conflict with Michael Myers can attempt to outrun the Shape on their own right now.

As reported by Bloody Disgusting, the official Halloween Ends website is currently playing host to a charming little browser game based on the upcoming sequel. The game sees players take control of a tiny pixelated take on Laurie Strode, outrunning a similarly retro Michael Myers while dodging obstacles. It's an endless runner with a very basic gameplay loop -- Laurie loses one health point, represented by an adorable jack-o-lantern, every time she hits an obstacle in one of the game's four repeating stages, and she regains one every time she picks up a weapon, allowing her to put some distance between herself and Michael.

This new browser game, titled Escape Michael Myers, is far from the iconic villain's first foray into the world of video games. An Atari 2600 game titled Halloween was released in 1983 to coincide with the release of Halloween III: Season of the Witch. Instead of adapting the infamously Michael-free story of Halloween III, though, Halloween for the 2600 follows the story of the original film (at least as much as a 2600 game could follow any story). While Michael isn't specifically named in the game, there are only so many knife-wielding, babysitter-hunting masked killers associated with the Halloween title. More recently, Michael and Laurie popped up as a killer-survivor duo in the popular multiplayer horror game Dead by Daylight.

Escape Michael Myers is designed as a miniature advertisement for Halloween Ends, the upcoming film that has been marketed as the end of the Halloween saga (although Halloween creator John Carpenter isn't so sure). Halloween Ends will focus on yet another confrontation between Laurie Strode and the Shape, who have been trading blows for more than forty years now.

Halloween Ends will act as the final entry in the recent Halloween reboot trilogy, which started with 2018's Halloween and continued with 2021's Halloween Kills. Like both of those movies, Halloween Ends is directed by David Gordon Green and sees the return of Jamie Lee Curtis, who originated the role of Laurie Strode way back in 1978 and has reprised it countless times since.

Halloween Ends will arrive in theaters and stream on Peacock on Oct. 14, 2022.
