Halle Berry reprises her role as Storm in Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Days of Future Past"

Mere days after Halle Berry indicated she was in talks to reprise her role as Storm in "X-Men: Days of Future Past," she and director Bryan Singer have made her involvement official.

"... I'm gonna be there. For sure," the Oscar-winning actress told Superhero Hype. "You know, I always love to do more as Storm. That's a character that I really love and people seem to respond well to me playing Storm."

Singer, as has become his custom, reserved his confirmation for Twitter, writing, "Couldn't be more excited that #HalleBerry has joined the cast of #XMen #DaysofFuturePast. Hopefully she can improve the weather in Montreal."

Berry, who appeared in "X-Men," "X2" and "X-Men: The Last Stand," joins fellow original-trilogy actors Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Anna Paquin and Shawn Ashmore in Fox's sequel to "X-Men: First Class." Famke Janssen and James Marsden are still unaccounted for.

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" takes its name from the classic 1981 Marvel comics story by Chris Claremont and John Byrne that depicts a timeline created by the X-Men's failure to prevent the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants from assassinating a U.S. senator. In that alternate future, the giant robotic Sentinels have become the de facto rulers of the United States, where mutants are hunted down and placed in internment camps. How much the movie will borrow from that seminal storyline is unclear.

The film stars returning "X-Men: First Class" actors James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult, joined by new additions Peter Dinklage and Omar Sy. "X-Men: Days of Future Past" opens July 18, 2014.
