Marcus Lehto, co-creator of the Halo universe, revealed some of 2001 title Halo: Combat Evolved's cut weaponry, including an Excavator and a Microwave Gun.The arsenal was posted on Twitter in a short video that shows off the weapons in use. The cut weaponry includes a Concussion Gun, Excavator, Particle Beam Rifle and Microwave Gun. The guns unfortunately never made it into the final build of the game, but Lehto's video shows what could have been. The former Bungie Studios Creative Art Director posted several other videos of cut Halo: Combat Evolved art and assets, including a Spear Gun that shot spears that would stick to their targets.

Halo: Combat Evolved is the first entry in the Halo series, released for Xbox on November 15, 2001. The game was a critical and commercial success, and is considered one of the greatest games of all time. The game inspired the fan-made Red vs. Blue video series, one of production company Rooster Teeth's most successful projects. Additionally, 2021 marks the game's 20th anniversary, and the release year of upcoming sequel Halo Infinite, which will be the last standalone Halo title.
