The Plot of Haikyuu!!

Anime Haikyu Season 3 Karasuno Team Huddle

Haikyuu!! is a coming-of-age sports series written and illustrated by Haruichi Furudate. Junior high school student Shoyo Hinata sees Karasuno High School's volleyball team playing in Nationals on TV and becomes interested in playing the sport himself. Hinata has a short stature, but hopes to play volleyball like ‘The Little Giant,’ a talented wing spiker for Karasuno with a similar stature to Hinata. However, his volleyball journey faces many hardships: there isn't a male volleyball team at his junior high school, so he has to learn the game from his school's female volleyball team as well as the community volleyball team.

In his last year of junior high, Hinata convinces his friends to join the team so he can compete in his first and only volleyball tournament. Unfortunately, the team was defeated by another school's team that starred the talented setter Tobio Kageyama. Kageyama and Hinata start a rivalry and vow to defeat one another in high school.

However, the two end up attending Karasuno High School together, and both join the volleyball team and learn to become an all-out powerful setter and spiker duo. Haikyuu!! is focused on the Karasuno volleyball team’s journey to Nationals.
