All of the characters in Haikyuu!! are super different and special making them each standout whenever they're on screen. This sports anime makes it difficult to pick a favorite character due to the fact that everyone is pretty amazing in their own special ways. The characters on the Karasuno team and beyond all compliment each other super well and bounce off of each other with their totally different personalities. 10 INFP, The Mediator - Koshi Sugawara
Sugawara is the perfect INFP due to his super good nature and always searching for the good in others. He brings it out in every one his team, even Kageyama who takes the same position as setter as he does. Kageyama initially has a pretty bad attitude with his team, but Sugawara doesn't let them deter him. He always treats the freshman with kindness and gives him tips whenever he needs. Even though INFPs are introverts, they can easily relate and speak to people, especially they are friends with, a trait that Sugawara displays wonderfully.
9 ENTJ, The Commander - Tetsuro Kuroo
Kuroo is the team captain of Nekoma and often has a pretty comical rivalry with Daichi and the rest of Karasuno. He makes for an excellent ENTJ as he is totally the commander of Nekoma in all of the best ways. While viewers definitely spend more time with Daichi, Kuroo displays traits of a perfect leader and team captain. He commands his team with perfect charisma and knows their strengths and weaknesses as they are all pretty eclectic individuals. He also can always find or make a way to succeed in a game.
8 INTJ, The Architect - Tobio Kageyama
As one of the main characters of the series, Kageyama displays a ton of character growth within the series, but throughout it all, he stays pretty introverted having a hard time discussing his needs with his team. Kageyama is the perfect INTJ both on the court and off.
As the setter for Karasuno, Kageyama must always have a plan for different plays and how to overcome different opponents and struggles. He doesn't always convey his needs perfectly, but once his team understands they easily follow as they know that Kageyama has the sight needed to see the whole court rather than just himself.
7 ESFP, The Entertainer - Yuu Nishinoya
Nishinoya is just a joy to watch whenever he is on screen. While his personality can be a toss-up, between his loud and eccentric exterior and softer and defensive interior, Nishinoya always seems to display all the traits of the Entertainer. As a libero, Nishinoya is meant to protect his team, but he also always wishes to make those around him happy, to make them laugh, which explains his wonderfully goofy and loud personality. The show is never boring when he's around, with his energetic personality taking over every scene he's in.
6 ISFJ, The Defender - Kiyoko Shimizu
Shimizu is the perfect ISFJ for Karasuno as the manager of the team. She is always there to make sure the whole team excel to greatness and constantly roots and supports them in any way she can, even if that means staying late at school to help them practice. Though Shimizu may not display too many emotions often, she cares so deeply for the team and their success. She is super warm-hearted and her encouragement helps all the boys feel like they can reach their goals.
5 ESTP, The Entrepreneur - Ryuunosuke Tanaka
Much like Nishinoya, Tanaka is loud, energetic, and oftentimes in the spotlight due to his humor and personality. Tanaka is the perfect ESTP in Haikyuu!! as he is also a lot like the entertainer personality type, which is why he and Nishinoya bounce off each other so well. The major difference is that Tanaka wants to be the center of attention with his loud antics. Even on the court, Tanaka wants to be the star and occasionally has accidentally hogged the ball, messing up very easy plays for other teammates. Tanaka has improved a ton since the beginning of the series, but that desire still lingers.
4 ENFP, The Campaigner- Shoyo Hinata
As the protagonist of the series, Hinata makes for the perfect ENFP. He is always trying to do his best for his team and himself and just wants to become friends with everyone he meets. He oftentimes becomes quick friends with all of the members in teams he goes against and is incredibly enthusiastic.
ENFPs are said to be sociable free spirits, something Hinata totally displays whenever a new character gets introduced. Instead of feeling jealousy or anger, he gets overjoyed at the idea of a challenge and can't wait to be friends and learn from his rivals.
3 ISTJ, The Logistician - Kei Tsukishima
Tsukishima is one of the quietest characters in Karasuno which oftentimes makes him super annoyed at the louder members of the team. He also doesn't often talk things out, but thinks things over and over again in his head to fix any emotional or physical problem he is having. He is a great ISTJ for these exact reasons. While he may always be extremely practical (sometimes coming off as pessimistic) he also is super reliable in-game, never wanting to let his team down. He's pretty lazy but breaks out of that if he needs to for Karasuno's sake of winning.
2 ESFJ, The Consul - Toru Oikawa
Another energetic and eccentric character, Oikawa is one of the first rivals fans of the series met. He's loud and totally full of himself in such a comical and cool way that he became a fan favorite for many. He is a great ESFJ due to his caring nature but also intense desire to be praised for his work. He's a super social character and is the star of his school due to his volleyball skills and good looks. Oikawa is always eager on the court and always wants to help bring his team to victory.
1 INTP, The Logician - Kenma Kozume
Kenma is definitely an introverted character in Haikyuu!! and is probably the prime example of the quality, even stating once in the series "I'm not good with people, and I don't want to interact with them." While he may be quiet, he is always watching and learning from other's actions. He rarely shows any emotions but is still said to be the "heart" and "mind" of Nekoma. He is extremely analytical and has a tone of game sense, which also makes him a great gamer as he loves to play video games when he isn't playing volleyball.
