Earlier this year, Marvel Cinematic Universe star Gwyneth Paltrow revealed that she didn't know she reprised her role as Pepper Potts in Spider-Man: Homecoming, which raised some questions as to just who and how much she'd forgotten. Paltrow has now opened up about why she's never exactly sure which MCU films she's made appearances in.
While speaking to Elle about her role in Netflix's The Politician, Paltrow explained her difficulty with remembering her MCU roles, saying, “I never read stuff, but it is confusing because there are so many Marvel movies, and to be honest, I haven’t seen very many of them. It’s really stupid and I’m sorry, but I’m a 47-year-old mother.”
Paltrow first appeared as Pepper in 2008's Iron Man. Starting out as Tony Stark's personal secretary, a romance blossomed between the two, and they eventually tied the knot. In Paltrow's most recent appearance in Avengers: Endgame, she and Tony had a daughter together named Morgan. That movie also saw her don her Rescue armor, which was created for her as an anniversary present, and fight alongside the rest of the Earth's Mightiest Heroes against Thanos.
At this time, there are no announced plans for Paltrow to return to the MCU. Although she's said she would return if Robert Downey Jr. did, he seems unlikely to reprise his role as Tony Stark anytime soon.
