Gwendoline Christie has confirmed that she will be back for "Star Wars: Episode VIII" to reprise her role as the well-armored Captain Phasma. While speaking to People Magazine on the red carpet last night at the 22nd annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, Christie was asked if she would be back for "Star Wars: Episode VIII." Christie replied, "I will be in the next Star Wars movie. I think that's an exclusive, actually."

"Star Wars: Episode VIII" reportedly started filming in January of this year, so it makes sense that Christie would know if she was needed for new scenes.  Despite being on the Starkiller Base when it blew up at the end of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," Captain Phasma will apparently live again. Hopefully she'll have an expanded role in "Episode VIII."

The next "Star Wars" movie to hit theaters is the anthology prequel film "Rogue One," which opens December 16, 2016. "Star Wars: Episode VIII" will debut the following year, on December 15, 2017. Gwendoline Christie can also be seen in the upcoming season of "Game of Thrones," which lands on HBO Sunday, April 24, 2016.
