One of the surprise breakouts films of the past few years was Taken, Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen's action thriller about a retired espionage agent (Liam Neeson) traveling to France to wreak unholy hell on the men responsible for kidnapping his daughter (Maggie Grace) and putting her through an underground sex ring.
Although a Taken sequel is already in the works, Besson is also developing a new project that borrows certain aspects from the Neeson-starring film: the action-packed vengeance plot and leading lady Maggie Grace.
According to Deadline, Besson is developing a new project called Lockout alongside directors James Mather and Stephen St. Leger, with Sony Pictures likely to distribute. Memento star Guy Pearce is attached to play a wrongfully accused convict who is given one last chance at redemption if he's willing to travel to outer space and rescue the United States president's daughter from a prison overtaken by violent inmates. Grace is set to play the president's daughter.
Shooting is expected to begin on September 7.
