The following contains spoilers for Episode 7 of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, "Shall We Gundam," now streaming on Crunchyroll.

Stepping away from the heated duels, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury Episode 7 swaps the Mobile Suit combat for heated verbal and social conflicts. Aerial's future appears dismal as the Benerit Group and its associates rally against the dangers that Gundams pose to their pilots. Unfortunately, while Suletta has found great success on the battlefield, she is ill-prepared and too awkward to handle the overwhelming nature of Benerit Group's politics.

Allegiances are called into question as certain characters share fleeting interactions, hinting at deeper connections or stories. Motivations and humanity also come into question as the divisions between the Benerit Group strain the technological alliance. While Delling Rembran shows a surprising moment of generosity, other leading members of Benerit Group Houses let their darker intentions bubble to the surface.

Miorine Steps Up as the Hero of the Day

Changing the battlefield from intense dueling arenas to a pretentious business gathering challenges Suletta more than any physical altercation. This change of setting pushes Miorine into the spotlight as she is obligated to save her partner from aggressive business politics seeking to decommission Aerial. Miorine proves to be more than capable of standing up to the intense pressure of the Benerit Group while manipulating her father for Suletta and Aerial's benefit. In addition, she displays proficiency in social and business awareness.

Turning their future relationship upside down, Miorine is the day's hero, saving Suletta from impending peril. Suletta's panic and confusion at the aggressive attempt to take Aerial and her mother's convenient disappearance left her without options. The bond between Miorine and Suletta helps strengthen Miorine's drive and pride, pushing her to new limits by manipulating her father and rebelling against the Benerit Group.

Prospera's Absence Is Too Convenient

While Peil Technologies verbally assaults Suletta, her mother Prospera verbally duels another Benerit Group member, Jeturk Heavy Machinery. Both groups have the same goal: to corner either member of the Mercury family and gain control or destroy their Gundam. The perfect timing of Prospera's distraction while Suletta finds herself overwhelmed is too perfect to be a coincidence.

The branches of the Benerit Group are working together for shared goals while pursuing their greedy endeavors. In an attempt to swing their weight around the corner, the Gundam that insulted both of their technological initiatives, Peil Technologies and Jeturk Heavy Machinery, form a temporary alliance. Expecting the power of the Mercurys to fall on their Gundam, they don't account for Miorine's pride and desire to change her reality. However, Prospera sees Miorine's potential by encouraging her to help Suletta in all things.

Delling's Humanity Affects All Sides of the Conflict

Caught off-guard by Miorine's bravery and unwillingness to back down, the tentative alliance between Peil and Jeturk is further shaken by Delling Rembran's handling of the situation. While Delling initially bucks his daughter's attempt to disrupt the plan to eliminate another Gundam, his humanity eventually bubbles to the surface. In the face of his daughter's strength and willfulness, he likely sees a bit of himself and his wife, which slivers his icy exterior and allows for a tinge of empathy to seep out.

This small moment of humanity changes the whole situation. Miorine's natural leadership calls to her father's better aspects and blocks any sinister plans that Peil and Jeturk are manifesting. Delling is still a cold, fierce businessman, but he shows a tinge of weakness to his peers while passively accepting the preservation of a Gundam. Small moments from an influential individual like Rembran will ripple throughout the following episodes as the Benerit Group continues to descend into disarray.

Suletta takes the reins as a reluctant hero fighting the members of the dueling committee in an innocent attempt to change Asticassia School of Technology into a more accepting environment. Unfortunately, her lack of social adeptness leaves her at a complete loss when verbally assaulted by conniving individuals seeking to take Aerial away. In this moment of despair, Miorine proves her place as a leader and influential figure. The company that Miorine establishes to protect Suletta and Aerial is the steady footing needed to launch large-scale changes.
