Adult Swim has acquired the anime series "Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans" to air as part of its Toonami programming block.

The 14th incarnation of the long-running "Gundam" franchise, "Iron-Blooded Orphans" is set about 300 years after the Calamity War, as the seeds of a new conflict are being sown on Mars, whose nations crave independence from Earth. The series centers on a young orphan named Mikazuki Augus, part of a group of children who work for the private security company called Chryse Guard Security.

The 25-episode first season debuted in October in Japan.

"Iron-Blooded Orphans" is among a slate of new programming that includes "Robot Chicken: The Walking Dead Special" and the previously announced returns of "Samurai Jack" and "FLCL."
