Well Go USA has given CBR an exclusive look at the trailer for Gundala, an Indonesian superhero film that premiered at last year's Toronto International Film Festival.

The trailer, which you can see below, shows Sancaka/Gundala -- a security guard who gains powers after being struck by lightning -- fighting to protect his city, Jakarta, from the corrupt influences and evildoers within in it. The trailer emphasizes the film's martial arts actions.

Gundala is the first film in the proposed eight-film BumiLangit Cinematic Universe (BCU). You can read the synopsis for the film below.

Based on the classic comic, GUNDALA is a poignant portrayal of the notion that heroes—whether everyday or superhuman—can be found anywhere (though a superpower never hurts). Indonesian orphan Sancaka spent his life on the streets trying to attract as little attention as possible, but when greed and violence reach a fever pitch in Jakarta, it soon becomes clear that he is the people’s only hope for peace.

Based on the comics character created by Harya Suraminata in 1969, Gundala releases July 28 on Digital, Blu-ray and DVD.  The movie was written and directed by Joko Anwar and stars Abimana Aryasatya, Tara Basro, Bront Palarae, Ario Bayu and Lukman Sardi.
