Academy Award-winning director Guillermo del Toro is teaming up with J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot Productions and Paramount Studios for a new action film, Zanbato.Although plots details are being kept tightly under wraps, Collider reports Zanbato will focus on a young girl between the ages of 10 and 15 with deadly fighting skills. Initially described as a ninja movie, del Toro clarified on Twitter that the film will feature ninjas, but it is not a ninja movie.RELATED: Guillermo Del Toro Has A Heartfelt Message For The OscarsDel Toro, who will serve as writer and director, also revealed that the film has been in development for six years. "This has been in development for the last 6 years or so," he wrote. "Thanks to JJ maximum security system, it had not leaked. We are still developing steadily," del Toro wrote. "Stay tuned here for news on which project SHOOTS next."

The acclaimed filmmaker also confirmed that his animated Pinocchio film for Netflix is still in pre-production. He wrote, "Pinocchio btw is already in active prepro in Portland, OR."

This is just one of many projects del Toro is currently working on. He provided the story and is serving as producer for CBS Films' Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, which is slated for release later this year. He's also producing a supernatural horror film for Fox Searchlight called Antlers, which currently does not have a release date. Pinocchio is currently slated for a release in 2021.
