Although plots details are being kept tightly under wraps, Collider reports Zanbato will focus on a young girl between the ages of 10 and 15 with deadly fighting skills. Initially described as a ninja movie, del Toro clarified on Twitter that the film will feature ninjas, but it is not a ninja movie.
Del Toro, who will serve as writer and director, also revealed that the film has been in development for six years. "This has been in development for the last 6 years or so," he wrote. "Thanks to JJ maximum security system, it had not leaked. We are still developing steadily," del Toro wrote. "Stay tuned here for news on which project SHOOTS next."

He's also producing a supernatural horror film for Fox Searchlight called Antlers, which currently does not have a release date. Pinocchio is currently slated for a release in 2021.
Written and directed by Guillermo del Toro, Zanbato does not currently have a release date.
