Even as rumors swirl that production has been delayed on the "Pacific Rim" sequel, word surfaces that director Guillermo del Toro has another film in the works.

According to The Tracking Board, the Fox Searchlight plans to produce an untitled feature written by the filmmaker, pitched as "'Wall-E' meets 'Splash.'" Del Toro is also attached to direct.

The website notes while the movie may seem like a departure for del Toro, he has produced a string of animated features, including "The Book of Life," "Puss in Boots" and the "Kung Fu Panda" sequels.

Of course, the enthusiastic del Toro has a long list of "future projects," so it's difficult to tell when, or if, this new feature might see release. His next movie, the Gothic thriller "Crimson Peak," arrives Oct. 16.
